The Oracle and the Star are losing one of their own at the end of this semester. Steven Listopad, adviser to the Oracle and the Star is leaving to work as the Communication and Development Director for the Arkansas Press Association (APA) in Little Rock. “I knew I’d be coming to a school where I already had colleagues that I really enjoyed working with and had good times with,” said Listopad. Reddie Radar: Illusory Entities Perhaps you’ve s Reddie Radar: Illusory Entities Perhaps you’ve seen the flyers around campus. They’re sort of obscure and vague. A little bit of artwork, a few words and a QR code that takes you to a Spotify page of a local artist called Illusory Entities. [...] Illusory Entities definitely has some personality but needs to hone in on what makes them stand out. They’ve got some hidden gems, a semi-consistent naming theme and many other things working in their favor. Still, there’s no way of knowing who they are, if they play any live shows or anything else about them. Read the full article on hsuoracle.com
Lion pitcher Ian Smith looks back at a runner on f Lion pitcher Ian Smith looks back at a runner on first base. --- Teams that were missing players due to basketball season have now gained those back and are easing into the groove of being back on the diamond. Conference play began last week, and fans were able to catch some action between the Lions and Haskell Harmony Grove last Monday. On the softball side of things, Bismarck is coming off of a successful season that Head Coach Brad Loy is hoping they can build off of. The Lady Lions took on the Lady Cardinals to start conference play, and it wasn’t even a close match. Bismarck put up seven runs before Haskell Harmony Grove finally put up four runs midway through the game. Read the full article on hsuoracle.com
Has Reddie Red always been the exact same shade an Has Reddie Red always been the exact same shade and has Henderson always been the home of the Reddies? [...] According to Sesser, the original colors that represented Arkadelphia Methodist College (Henderson’s name at the time) weren’t even red and gray at all. They were pink and cream. The colors were used during an 1896 intercollegiate debate contest. The red and gray can be traced back to 1905. The Duke Wells Center has housed a natatorium sinc The Duke Wells Center has housed a natatorium since 1971, with brand new state-of-the-art equipment. Since then a few things have come and gone. The resurfacing of the pool deck, the addition of new diving block heads, a pulley system, a few coaches and loads of swimmers. There is one thing though that hasn’t changed in at least 40 years, and that is the scoreboard. This antique has worked wonders for the team in past years and continued to do the same until some of its functions stopped working last year and the need for a new one was underway. The Henderson State swimming team continued to operate with its limited functions and started to raise money for a new scoreboard. “The irony of the show is that it was written in “The irony of the show is that it was written in 2012, about the French Revolution, and in 2022 it's all still relevant,” said Chinwah. “We’re still fighting all the same battles for freedom and equality, maybe not with a guillotine, but it’s all still there.” The final performance of the Revolutionist was held on Monday and left a lot of the cast and crew feeling proud. While it was sad to see them go, Gray mentions, “It's nice to just wrap [the characters] up and put them away nicely. This show will always be in this space, the memories of it will always be here. We paint over the stage after every production, so even after we are all gone, this floor will still be here under a coat of paint.” All four actresses will star in the theater department’s upcoming production of Antigone, which is set to run from April 14 to 18.
