The Reddies women’s basketball team announced via Instagram the signing of Bethany Richardson to the team this past week on November 12, 2020. Richardson verbally committed to Henderson on July 22.

“I’m beyond grateful for this opportunity and want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity and ability to play the game that I love,” said Bethany Richardson, a new signee via Twitter. “ I would like to thank my family for sacrificing so much throughout the years and being my biggest fans.”

Richardson is from Western Grove, Arkansas, and attends Valley Springs High School. While in high school, she has become a multi-sport athlete lettering in volleyball, basketball, softball, and track. In her sophomore year with basketball, Richardson averaged 14.3 points per game. In her junior year, she increased her average to 17 points per game and helped the team win the State Championship for 3A. Adding to that, the athlete earned the 2019 NAC All-tournament team and offensive MVP award.

“My favorite memory is playing in the state semifinals game and winning to advance to the State Finals,” said Richardson.

Bethany Richardson ranks in as a 5’10 guard/forward for the team. She plans on majoring in Health and Human Performance in Fall 2021. She looks forward to competing with some of the best women in the state while taking her game and skill set to the next level.

“Henderson State not only gave me the opportunity to achieve my goal of playing basketball at the collegiate level, but they made me feel at home the first time I stepped foot onto the campus,” said the future student.
