Over the weekend, the college from Conway traveled upstate to renew a rivalry that was once a big-time spectacle in the Natural State: UCA vs. ASU.

The Saturday afternoon showdown took place at Centennial Bank Stadium, the home stadium of the Red Wolves, and aired on ESPN3. This was the first meetup between the two teams since 2016, in which UCA took home the win.

As both teams were coming off a loss the week prior, the Bears to North Dakota State and the Redwolves to Coastal Carolina, looked to rebound with a win to carry them back into conference play.

Early on, UCA set the pace by scoring first. The first quarter consisted of several lead changes, keeping the game interesting for a gloomy homecoming on the gridiron. The pace would speed up for Arkansas State late in the second quarter and propel them to a 10 point halftime lead, 23-13.

From there on, the Red Wolves would prove to UCA why the Sun Belt is a force to be reckoned with. They would capitalize on their first three possessions of the third quarter and take care of business from thereon. The Wolf pack would run away early in the second half and never look back, taking down the Bears in blowout fashion, 50-27.

A-State quarterbacks Layne Hatcher and Logan Bonner would do damage in the passing attack, accounting for almost 400 yards of offense, while premier receiver Jonathan Adams Jr., would record yet another 100 yards receiving game.

Arkansas State (2-2) looks to carry the momentum into their Thursday evening game against Georgia State, while Central Arkansas hope to end their losing skid as they travel to Springfield next Saturday to battle Missouri State.
