Big business supporting people

Sometimes it feels hopeless, in midst of the Coronavirus pandemic and its effects on day-to-day life, but there is still good around. In fact, some big businesses are giving back to their workers and their consumers in little ways that help keep spirits up and keep us from stagnating during quarantine.

Food delivery companies like DoorDash and UberEats are getting rid of the commission fee for small independent restaurant partners. This means a smaller fee for consumers who want to order from an independent restaurant.

McDonald’s will pay sick leave for any employee who has to go into quarantine.  Dolce & Gabbana is donating money to research centers to help prevent Covid-19.  UHaul is offering free 30 day storage for all college students to help in moving out.

Disney+ is letting movies come in sooner since theatres are closed. Discounts and extensions for subscriptions are also available. Multiple phone companies have pledged to keep customers connected with unlimited data for the next 60 days. Starbucks offers to-go orders only, and is shut down in places where infection is more likely.
