As the end to the regular season swiftly approaches, HSU men’s hoops look to solidify themselves a powerhouse heading into the conference tournament.

The Reddies faced Southwestern Oklahoma State last Thursday at Duke-Wells in an important conference game.

SWOSU would shoot lights out to start the game, going nine for 18 from the field and leading 25-9 at the 10-minute mark. HSU would compile a 32-8 run to upstage the Bulldogs and send the game into halftime with the Reddies up 41-33.

As both teams had found their strides by halftime, SWOSU would return in the second half with the intent to reclaim the lead. They would come to within one, 43-42, and eventually tie the game at 66. The Bulldogs would have a tug-of-war for the lead as the game trends saw five lead changes in the second half.

Henderson would gear up once more for a late-game sequence. Chris Parker would post his season-high of 26 points, along with double-doubles from Mike Fofana (17 pts, 13 rebounds) and Raekwon Rodgers (19 pts, 10 rebounds). Chris Owens contributed off the bench with 15 points of his own to give the Reddies an 84-73 victory at home.

Henderson is one game shy of first place in conference standings with three games remaining in the regular season.

The Reddies Senior day will be this Saturday, February 22, 2020 against Northwestern Oklahoma State University at 1:00 pm.
