     Valentine’s Day may be the time that people buy expensive gifts and go all out for their partners in order to try to put their love for someone into something that is materialistic but that does not mean that that is the only way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. As college students knowing that you can do more and spend less is always a great feeling, that is where this list comes these are seven great and cheap Valentine’s Day ideas to enjoy with your partner or even just a group of friends.

     1. Make them a meal

     Something as simple as cooking for someone will make their day. Even if you are not skilled in the kitchen, you can easily make many great meals by following recipes online. Not only does this serve as a great Valentine’s Day idea but it also can help you save money in the long run by not eating out as much.

     2. Make a Treasure Hunt

     If your partner is someone who loves puzzles then a treasure hunt is great for them! All you need is some sticky notes and some fun hints as to where the others are hidden. You can make the hints up by either putting in sweet memories that you share or just by saying something sweet in general. At the end of the hunt could be whatever you want them to find, whether its candy, gifts or more sweet notes.

     3. Have a Movie Date

     A movie may be a stereotype but there is a good reason for that, movies are the go-to ideas for couples and friends alike because they are simple and fun for everyone. You do not even need to find a romance movie, just find one that you both like as well as some popcorn and enjoy each other’s company.

     4. Go Star Gazing

     Here in Arkadelphia, there are many great spots to look up and marvel at the beauty of the stars. All you need for this idea is a car in order to get out of the town and into the countryside so the light pollution does not hinder your stargazing. Along with the stargazing you can bring some sandwiches or other kinds of food as well as any kind of entertainment that will make your starry night any better.

     5. Play Some Board Games

     Another classic date idea is board games. Everyone can find some kind of enjoyment out of it whether it is the satisfaction of winning, having a great time, or simply just being with your people of choice. This idea will always be a great thing to have in your pocket just in case something comes up and you are not able to afford anything else.

      6. Go Around Town

     If you cannot afford to do anything but hang out with your partner then all you have to do is go around town with them. Arkadelphia may not be the hot spot for activities but Hot Springs is only an hour away, you can get everyone in a car and take the day to walk downtown. This will fill your entire day with fun and interesting activities to do.

     7. Spend the Day With Someone Who Does Not Have a Valentine

     It is always a terrible feeling to be the only person to not have anyone to spend Valentine’s Day with so if you know someone who is in that position you should be with them. This will allow you to make sure that they do not feel alone and you can also try any of these ideas with them to show them that you care about them.

     At the end of the day, it does not matter how much you or how long you spent on someone. All that matters is that you make sure that they know how much they mean to you, whether it is a friend or a loved one, as long as they know that you care then you can have the best Valentine’s Day ever.
