This past week the Henderson Campus Recreation Department began their 5 on 5 Basketball League. The League consists of 5 Co-Ed teams, 6 Men’s Competitive teams, and 8 Men’s Recreational teams. The main purpose for splitting up the Men’s Recreational and Competitive leagues is so that players can play in an atmosphere that fits their speed.

The Competitive League is for players who would rather play in a competitive atmosphere, while the Recreational League is for players who are playing just for fun. The games have already begun and they occur Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The season ending tournament is scheduled for February 24-26, where teams will play in a single elimination bracket to determine a champion. In the Co-Ed and Men’s Competitive League, all teams will advance to the season ending tournament, but in the Men’s Recreational League will be narrowed down from 8 teams to 6 for the tournament.

When asked about his hopes for the semester, Henderson State Intramural director Eric Mitchner said “I’m hoping for our participation rates to continue to increase this semester. I also want our students to enjoy the events we have to offer in our Intramural program.”
