Henderson State’s men and women swim team took a walk across the street this past Friday to dive into waters not so foreign. Both the men’s and women’s teams had the Reddie fighting spirit alive during the meet, however it was the men’s team who triumphant taste of victory (114-91) as the women finished with (126.5-76.5).

The Red Wave men’s team had an outstanding day winning a total of seven events. Tristan Little and Stephen Jones both acquired first-place victories in individual races.

Little managed to grace the wall with his touch first in the 100-yard freestyle clocking in at 10:06.9. Jones came out on top in the 200-yard IM clocking in at 1:55.

The team overall victories of the day came from the two other relay wins in the 400-yard medley relay posting a time of 3:31.84. The other race is the 400-yard freestyle relay posting the time of 3:10.75. The first relay team was composed of Till Steyer, Zach Hansen, Ty Gibbs, and Jones. The second relay team was composed of Jason Seiner, Tim Holt, Ryan Brown, and Steyer.

Although the women team fell short in the total they still managed to achieve a total of 5 wins during the meet. Ceci Magnani earned first in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:05.58), Elam Fulton took first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.28), Isabelle Andrews took first in the 200-yard butterfly and Elza Kachliishvili took first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.50).

The women’s team also managed to win the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:04.66. The team was composed of Amy Brandenburg, Kachliishvili, Andrews, and Fulton.

Both teams can look forward to this Saturday, Feb. 1 as they take on Oklahoma Baptist at 9 a.m. in the wells Natatorium.
